. . . is when you and your friends go here:
but you don’t eat any of this because you’re on a veggie diet:
That, my dear friends, is the legendary isaw manok (chicken intestines) inside the UP campus, the one from Mang Larry’s stall right across Kalayaan Residence Hall, the isaw that is on my top ten list of favorite foods of all time. (I actually don’t have a list yet, but if I ever made one, this would be on it.)
I should have an award or something.
It helped that I was still full from lunch at Good Burger in Maginhawa St.:
That’s my 3-cheese burger (cream cheese, mozzarella, cheese sauce) with lettuce, onions, and tomato. That’s a veggie patty, of course.
After this vegetarian craziness, I’ll make sure to plan another trip to the isawan, the picture of those darn intestines above is driving me crazy!

looking at that isaw photo gave me an idea of introducing it to the locals we’re with. *kidding* baka madeport ako, hahaha!
…all of us are officially missing those delightful foods in pinas; puro anghang at curry dito! but can’t complain; my taste buds began embracing the diversity of flavors.
wow.. salivating over here.. veggie burger… i want to try one.
omg! that is will power!!! i dunno how you were able to resist that because they look so good to eat!
docgelo: Wala bang isaw manok diyan? Ipa-uso mo! We never got to try curry in Malaysia. My boyfriend loves curry pa naman.
mai: It was good, not like other veggie burger patties that taste like cardboard.
crickette: Buti na lang medyo busog ako nun. If not, patay, no more veggie diet.
ISAW!!! We totally forgot to visit UP for this on our last vacation but definitely will on our next.
Glad to know you managed not to cave in. Keep it up!
that’s amazing, Dea
Although I don’t eat Isaw (and red meat) I think it’s really cool that you were able to say no. di bale, konti nalang naman, right?
CandyQ: Thanks! I do hope you get to have some next time, classic Pinoy favorite din to.
kate: I know, konting tiis na lang! I don’t plan to eat red meat na rin after this.
Dea, Isaw isn’t red meat! =)
I’m still doing meatless mondays and i’ve realised i can do it without red meat.. however 3 weeks ago I had a massive craving for stead and burgers. I think 4/7 days I had big burgers for dinner.
